The model

What is integrated multi-trophic aquaculture?

It means growing several species together in a single system, so that one species' outputs become another's inputs — producing seafood in a way that helps restore the water it grows in, rather than depleting it.

Seaweed

Absorbs dissolved nutrients and draws down carbon as it grows.

Mussels

Filter feeders that clean the surrounding water column.

Scallops

Cultured in suspended systems alongside the other species.

Oysters

Complete the cycle, filtering and adding habitat on the seafloor.

A regenerative farm produces more than food. As the system grows, it draws down carbon, cycles nutrients out of the water, and creates habitat for other marine life — while supporting jobs in a community that needs them.

This is the difference between farming that takes from the ocean and farming that gives back to it.
